It was supposed to be a regular Wednesday evening on the I-15. But just before 7 p.m. on December 11, the routine commute near the Charleston Boulevard interchange turned into a scene of absolute heartbreak. In a split second, a series of collisions left families shattered and claimed the life of 20-year-old Nash Douglas Berry.

Nash, a young man from Kingman, Arizona, was behind the wheel of a silver 2006 Honda Accord. For reasons that investigators are still trying to piece together, he was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes. It is the kind of nightmare scenario every driver fears—seeing headlights coming toward you on a one-way stretch of highway with nowhere to go.

The first cars to encounter the Honda were a white Tesla Model 3 and a red Chevrolet Tahoe. Both drivers tried their best to swerve out of the way, but the speed and timing made a collision unavoidable. The Honda clipped the Tesla, while the Tahoe rider fought for control before ultimately crashing into a concrete wall.

The chaos didn’t stop there. The initial impact set off a terrifying chain reaction that pulled three more vehicles into the wreckage: a Ford Bronco, a Nissan Altima, and a Toyota Camry. By the time the metal stopped crunching and the dust settled, five cars were mangled across the lanes near the I-11 HOV ramp.

When first responders arrived, the scene was grim. Despite the best efforts of emergency crews, Nash Berry was pronounced dead right there on the freeway. At only 20 years old, he had so much life left to live, and his sudden passing has left a massive hole in the hearts of his friends and family back in Kingman.

Three other people were rushed to local hospitals as sirens echoed through the Las Vegas night. Two of them were listed in serious condition, fighting through injuries that no one should have to face on their way home. A third person was treated for minor injuries, though the emotional scars of such an event will surely take much longer to heal.

As the community reflects on this tragedy, the focus remains on the people behind the statistics. Nash was more than just a name in a police report; he was a son and a friend with a future that was cut far too short. This accident serves as a painful reminder of how quickly things can change on the road and leaves us all hoping for a bit more safety and a lot more healing for everyone involved.
