On Wednesday night around 9:40 p.m., officers with the Detroit Police Department responded to gunfire at a barbershop on Greenfield Road near Trojan Avenue on Detroit’s west side.

When they arrived, the shop’s front window had been shattered by gunfire. Inside, they found one man dead just east of the front door, and another male victim further inside.

Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchett confirmed there were no obvious signs of forced entry and the workstations remained intact, suggesting that the victims may have known the shooter.

Authorities say the shooting appears to have been targeted, though they have not yet released any suspect descriptions or identified a motive.

The two victims have not yet been publicly identified, and it’s also unclear how they were connected to each other or to the barbershop. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Detroit Police homicide unit.

Neighbors and witnesses in the area say they heard the loud blast of multiple gunshots, and soon after spotted police vehicles and crime‑tape blocking off the scene late into the evening.

The barbershop remains closed as investigators comb through the scene for evidence. Detroit police say they are working to determine whether the shooting stemmed from a dispute, gang‑related activity or some other targeted violence.

This tragic incident marks another violent episode on the city’s west side, prompting calls from community leaders for more resources and better communication between residents and law enforcement.

If you saw anything or have any information, you’re encouraged to reach out to Detroit Police at 313‑596‑2260, or call Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑SPEAK‑UP.
