In the early hours of Sunday morning, tragedy struck Dorchester County, South Carolina, as a single-vehicle accident claimed the lives of two young individuals. The incident occurred just south of Saint George along U.S. Highway 15, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

The victims have been identified as 20-year-old Samuel Dantzler of Harleyville, who was driving the vehicle, and 23-year-old Brianna Wiles of Round O, who was a passenger. According to the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office, Dantzler was pronounced dead at the scene, while Wiles was transported to Trident Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that the Chevrolet truck, driven by Dantzler, was traveling south on U.S. 15 when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, leaving both occupants critically injured. Emergency crews from several local agencies, including the Highway Patrol and Dorchester County first responders, arrived shortly after 1 a.m. to provide assistance and secure the crash site.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the vehicle leaving the roadway. Factors such as speed, road conditions, or driver fatigue are being considered. A full collision reconstruction is underway to provide a clearer understanding of the moments leading up to the crash. Authorities have confirmed that no other vehicles were involved, and this appears to have been a single-vehicle accident. The investigation remains ongoing as officials await the final report.

The tragic crash has deeply affected the communities of Saint George, Harleyville, and Round O, where both victims were well known and loved. Friends and neighbors have described Dantzler and Wiles as kind, energetic, and full of promise. Many residents have taken to social media to express condolences, share memories, and offer prayers for their grieving families. Local leaders have also expressed sorrow, calling for continued support and compassion for those mourning the loss.

Authorities are using this tragedy to remind drivers of the importance of staying alert behind the wheel, especially during early morning or late-night hours when fatigue and limited visibility can increase risks. They also urge motorists to follow speed limits, avoid distractions, and ensure vehicles are properly maintained to prevent similar tragedies.

As the investigation continues, the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol will release additional details when available. Meanwhile, the community mourns the loss of two young lives, coming together in remembrance of Samuel Dantzler and Brianna Wiles, whose passing has left a lasting void in the hearts of many.
