WACO, Texas — A community is mourning after a morning traffic accident on December 5 claimed the life of 57-year-old Bradley Grant, a Waco resident who was driving a Nissan Altima before his vehicle collided head-on with a cement truck on Loop 340.

Grant was traveling southbound when the cement truck — heading northbound — veered into his lane, triggering a deadly impact, according to the Waco Police Department. Emergency crews pronounced Grant dead at the scene after arriving.

The driver of the cement truck was transported to a nearby hospital and, per authorities, was expected to survive. No arrests have been made as of Saturday morning, and authorities confirmed they withheld Grant’s identity until his next of kin could be notified.

It was the usual morning commute on Loop 340 — a route taken by many Waco locals — but by mid-day the air was heavy with shock and silent grief. Friends of Grant recalled him as a steady presence, a man whose daily routines exemplified quiet dedication. That routine ended suddenly on that stretch of road.

Community members are now left wrestling with the what-if’s that so often follow a loss like this: the morning drive that should have been ordinary, the snap second when the cement truck drifted across lanes, the absence of a voice that once greeted familiar faces along Loop 340.

Authorities with Waco Police are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dash-cam footage to come forward. No details have been given about whether speed, weather, or mechanical failure played a role. The investigation remains open.

As friends and family begin the difficult process of grieving, the community is shaken. A man whose name was withheld until loved ones were told — is now gone. In the days ahead, those who drove his route may look at Loop 340 differently, and many will remember Bradley Grant, not as a victim, but as a neighbor whose life was cut tragically short.
