Three teenagers are dead and another was injured after a serious crash in Warrington Township, Pennsylvania, on Friday night, police say.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on Bristol Road, where a sedan and an SUV collided near Barness Park, police said.
Police say the sedan had four teenagers inside, and the SUV had one occupant, the driver.
Three of the four teens inside the sedan were killed, including the 15-year-old driver.
Eighteen-year-old Aziz Umidovich Amonov, who was sitting in the front seat, was also killed, along with another 16-year-old. A 14-year-old boy who was in the back seat of the Camry remains in the intensive care unit in Philadelphia. The driver of the Ford Explorer was not hurt.
Two of the teenagers were students at Neshaminy High School, the school confirmed. The 18-year-old was a senior, while the 15-year-old was a freshman. Police did not release information about why the teen was driving the car, or whether he had a Pennsylvania learner’s permit or other license to drive.
The Bucks County Crash Team is set to inspect the vehicles involved in the crash on Monday as part of the investigation, according to police.
The crash occurred when the sedan was heading eastbound and the SUV was heading westbound. When the sedan hit a downward crest in the road, the driver lost control, putting the vehicle in the path of the oncoming SUV.
“This is a heartbreaking and tragic situation. Our hearts and prayers are with the families and friends of those involved during this unimaginable time,” Warrington police said.
Police initially described the crash as a head-on collision but later released information indicating it was a side-angle crash.
Doniyor Utamishev, a recent Neshaminy graduate, said he works down the road from where the crash happened and that his father knows the family of one of the victims. He said his co-worker was one of the first to arrive right after the impact.
“She was the first one at the scene,” he said. “She helped rescue them. She was checking for pulses.”
Grief counselors will be available at Neshaminy High School for students returning to class Monday. Parents are also encouraged to come forward with any questions or concerns during this time.
