WEST JORDAN, Utah — A 40-year-old middle school teacher from Hawthorn Academy is facing a raft of serious charges after allegedly grooming and sexually abusing a former student who viewed her as a “mother figure.”
Alisha Marie George, of Eagle Mountain, was formally charged this week in 3rd District Court with 22 criminal counts: among them four counts of forcible sodomy and one count of attempted rape (first-degree felonies), 12 counts of forcible sexual abuse (second-degree felonies), one count of distributing pornographic material (third-degree felony), and four counts of unlawful kissing of a minor (class A misdemeanors).

According to prosecutors, Ms. George — who taught honors language arts and coached volleyball — allegedly leveraged her trusted position to prey on the student from December 2023 through July 2024.
Court documents paint a troubling picture: the boy met Ms. George when he was 12. Over time, after his mother and the teacher developed a close friendship, George reportedly began providing increased support to the family — especially when the mother was incapacitated. The boy, then 13, started spending more time in her company.
What began, according to the victim, as kindness and care allegedly spiraled into abuse. The student told police he felt a “tight relationship” with George, describing her as a “mother figure,” someone who was “always there” when he needed help — only to later abuse that trust.
The alleged sexual contact reportedly occurred in multiple locations: George’s car, her home, and even the child’s residence. The abuse reportedly stopped in July 2024. The victim said she told him not to tell anyone — and made him feel he was “at the point of no return,” that they were “in a relationship.” He also recalled that she expressed anger if he interacted with other female students.
After George’s arrest, investigators say “multiple students” reached out, claiming they either witnessed misconduct or were themselves groomed — raising concerns that the charges may grow as more come forward.
George is currently held without bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for December 9.
