In the early hours of Tuesday, a sense of both relief and sorrow washed over the south Fargo community as authorities announced the arrest of a suspect in the fatal Monday night shooting of 28‑year‑old father‑to‑be Nadine Khoury. The arrest brings a measure of closure to a tragedy that left friends and family reeling.

According to the Fargo Police Department, officers responded around 9:27 p.m. Monday, October 27, to reports of gunfire at an apartment building in the 2700 block of 41st Street South. Khoury was found in a stairwell, suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital but was pronounced dead around 10:15 p.m. that night.

The next morning, law enforcement confirmed the apprehension of 26‑year‑old Levi Larteh, who was taken into custody at a gas station in Barnesville, Minnesota at around 10:46 a.m. He was booked into the Clay County Jail on a murder charge. Officials say Larteh and Khoury were known to each other, though the exact nature of their relationship has not been publicly clarified.

Investigators believe the conflict began with words and escalated into gunfire—what the police described as “starts with words and ends in gunfire.” They also revealed this incident may be connected to a separate “shots‑fired” call from the previous Friday night in Fargo. That earlier incident, while not resulting in reported injuries, is now part of the broader investigation.

Khoury leaves behind his pregnant wife, as noted by police during their press briefing, deepening the ripple of grief in the community. Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski described the shooting as “completely reckless conduct… not acceptable in our Fargo community.” The building was cleared and the scene processed for shell casings and video footage, which officers are now reviewing for further leads.

Family and friends who knew Khoury describe his life as one of warmth and compassion—someone who offered kindness to those around him and dreamed of the future he would share with his growing family. His sudden passing has left a void that many are struggling to come to terms with.

As the legal process now moves forward, authorities are urging anyone with information to step forward and help the investigation bring full answers. For now, the community mourns a young life cut short—and the promise of what might have been—while holding onto hope that justice will be served and Khoury’s memory honored.
