Christopher Petty of Wells, Maine, died suddenly on Friday, September 6, 2024, following a car accident. He was 39 years old. Christopher especially enjoyed traveling with his family, ice fishing and hunting. All his attention was directed to his family and sons.
He was the head coach of his children’s T-Ball teams and an assistant flag football coach. Chris was a devoted family man, brilliant engineer, generous, community-minded neighbor, New England outdoorsman, spreadsheet maker, music enthusiast, hilarious prankster, great friend and best father. He was also a gourmet beer drinker, lighthouse keeper in search of adventure, and music lover.

Dawn Cooley has set up a GoFundMe page to help with funeral and memorial costs. According to the page, he was the husband of Kristen (Hutton) Petty and the father of Noah (7) and Lucas (5). Christopher and Kristen met at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. At that age, Cooley vividly recalls meeting her as her dance partner at Parents Weekend, where it was clear she was already in love with him.
