Law enforcement agencies say one man has died and four others injured in a car accident in Maryland over the weekend. Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly two-vehicle incident on the Outer Loop of Interstate 495 at Route 50 in Prince George’s County on Sunday night, September 15. One individual died in the incident, while four others were hospitalized.
Ayuk Etta, 40, of Lanham, has been identified as the dead. He was declared dead on the spot by Prince George’s County Fire/EMS personnel. Etta was outside his vehicle when the accident occurred. The incident, which occurred at 8:50 p.m., involved a 2016 Honda Pilot and a 2018 Mercedes vehicle. According to preliminary investigations, the Honda Pilot lost control while traveling northbound on I-495 and collided with the rear of the stationary Mercedes, which was halted on the left shoulder.
Miranda Nembo, 39, and Mayah Nembo, 24, were in the Mercedes and were taken to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Centre before being released. The nature of their relationship with Etta or each other has not been proven.
The Honda Pilot was driven by five male pals from Prince George’s County. The driver, Biruk Grimes, 19, and two passengers, ages 18 and 19, were denied medical treatment. Two additional passengers, Olauwadamilola Fatokun (18) and a 17-year-old, were sent to Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Centre for treatment. The inquiry into the circumstances of the crash is still ongoing.
