Amani James Wheaton Obituary, Death;- A man has been apprehended and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Aurora Avenue in Seattle last week. Patrick Faushaun Williams, a 35-year-old resident of Yelm, faces felony hit-and-run charges following a deadly collision that took place on Friday, February 28, in North Seattle. Court documents reveal that surveillance footage recorded the event, showing the victim initially approaching Williams’ truck and striking its right front tire with a machete.
Allegedly, Williams reversed his vehicle, and when the victim stood in front of the truck still wielding the machete, Williams accelerated, striking the victim and momentarily carrying him on the hood before he was thrown underneath the vehicle.
The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Amani James Wheaton. He was transported to Harborview Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter. Following the incident, Williams fled the scene, with prosecutors asserting that he did not stop or return.
Seattle police identified Williams as the suspect through his vehicle and arrested him approximately six hours later while he was found asleep in his truck near Licton Springs Park. Authorities noted that Williams’ truck exhibited damage consistent with the hit-and-run. According to court documents, the initial confrontation, in which Wheaton struck Williams’ tire with the machete, may have originated from a dispute regarding a transaction involving a French bulldog.
During police interviews, detectives discovered that Williams had allegedly sold his dog to Wheaton, and a disagreement arose when Williams sought to reclaim the dog, which Wheaton was unwilling to return. Williams has been booked into King County Jail, with prosecutors requesting a bail amount of $2 million. The investigation remains ongoing, and further charges may be forthcoming.
