Murder-Suicide – Authorities say a San Antonio man is believed to have killed his 1-year-old baby boy before taking his own life Wednesday in the parking lot of Phil Hardberger Park.
A family member found the bodies inside a vehicle after the man contacted them saying he “might injured the child if they don’t make it here in time,” according to Officer Ricardo Guzman, a public information officer with the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
“He then sent the location of where he was at, which was here at the park. The family member arrived at the park, located the vehicle and inside the vehicle found both individuals deceased,” Guzman said, adding the information was preliminary and could change over the course of the investigation.
That family member then called police, and officers arrived at around 8 p.m.
On Thursday morning, officials said it was determined both the father and child had suffered from stab wounds. The Bexar County medical examiner identified them as 34-year-old Daniel Cesar Arjona-Soto and 15-month-old Benjamin Arjona-Palacio.
Authorities are investigating the incident as a murder-suicide, with Arjona-Soto as the suspect.
Guzman said it wasn’t yet known how much time passed between when the man first called his relative and their arrival at Hardberger Park.
