Alonzo Ocaranza, 69, of Turlock, was identified as the victim who died after a boat capsized near Bodega Bay on November 18, 2024. The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. when the Achelous, a boat carrying five people, capsized and ran aground at North Salmon Creek Beach. Four of the boaters were rescued and hospitalized.
Ocaranza’s death follows a series of recent fatal boating accidents in the area, including two other capsizings earlier in the month. Authorities have not disclosed further details on the incident, which is still under investigation by the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
