Trump National Doral to Host Miami Championship on PGA Tour

Trump National Doral is set to return to the PGA Tour next year, hosting a major event with a whopping $20 million prize pool. This tournament is scheduled for the first weekend in May 2026 and will occur in the midst of a six-week stretch that includes both the Masters and the PGA Championship.

PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp expressed excitement about showcasing top golfers at such a historic venue. While the title sponsor for this Miami Championship has yet to be secured, it promises to be a notable addition to the schedule.

Doral has been part of the PGA Tour since 1962, but after President Trump acquired the resort, it faced challenges in maintaining a title sponsor. In 2016, the Tour moved its event to Mexico City, which led Trump to make a notable comment about the safety concerns in that region.

In recent years, LIV Golf, backed by Saudi investors, has successfully hosted events at Doral. However, that partnership will conclude in 2026, even as Trump National, located near Washington, D.C., will continue to welcome LIV events.

Looking ahead, President Trump has expressed optimism about potential collaboration between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. He has been an enthusiastic advocate for uniting the leagues, stressing that it would benefit the sport.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan acknowledged Trump’s role as a facilitator in the ongoing discussions, underlining that serious talks are taking place at high levels within both organizations.

The Miami Championship will kick off with its first round on April 30, 2026, marking a significant moment for golf fans and players alike. As Trump continues to support golf, his vision for unifying the sport appears to be gaining traction.
