Bhalla, a beloved figure in Punjabi cinema, died in the early morning hours at Fortis Hospital, Mohali, where he had been admitted after suffering a brain stroke two days earlier. Despite medical efforts, complications arising from the stroke ultimately claimed his life.

Born on May 4, 1960, in Doraha, Punjab, Bhalla dedicated more than three decades of his life to entertaining audiences with his wit, humor, and sharp satirical take on society. His passing leaves behind a profound void not only in the Punjabi film industry but also in the hearts of millions who grew up watching and listening to his work.

His final rites were performed on August 23, 2025, at the Balongi Cremation Ground in Mohali, where family, friends, fans, and industry colleagues gathered to bid farewell. The somber event was attended by prominent film personalities, political figures, and admirers who came to pay their respects to the iconic artist.

Jaswinder Bhalla began his career in the late 1980s and first rose to fame with his popular audio comedy series “Chhankata,” launched in 1988. The series, known for its sharp satire and humorous takes on everyday life, quickly became a household name across Punjab and among Punjabi-speaking communities worldwide. Bhalla’s ability to weave comedy with relatable social issues made him a pioneer in Punjabi satire.

Over the years, he transitioned seamlessly into Punjabi cinema, where he became one of the most recognized comedic actors of his generation. His performances in blockbuster films such as Carry On Jatta, Jatt & Juliet, Mr. & Mrs. 420, and Vekh Baraatan Challiyan cemented his reputation as an irreplaceable force in Punjabi comedy. His characters were not just comic relief but also carried strong cultural relevance, often highlighting the quirks and nuances of Punjabi society.

Bhalla was admired for his impeccable comic timing, versatility, and ability to engage audiences across generations. Beyond acting, he was also a respected academic, serving as a professor of agriculture before dedicating himself full-time to cinema and comedy.

Following the news of his passing, tributes poured in from across the globe. Fans flooded social media with memories, video clips, and heartfelt messages celebrating the life and legacy of the legendary comedian.
