On January 23, 2005, 13-year-old Melina Martin was dropped off by her mother at a winter festival in Roch-Bourbonnais Park, Farnham, Quebec. She was supposed to meet her mother at a nearby restaurant, Valentines, at 5:30 p.m., but she was never seen again. Despite years of searching, Melina’s disappearance remains unsolved, and her family continues to wait for answers.

    What Happened

On the afternoon of January 23, 2005, Melina was excited to attend the winter festival at Roch-Bourbonnais Park, an event she had planned to attend with friends and family. However, no one else was able to attend that day. After dropping Melina off, her mother waited at the restaurant, as planned, but Melina never showed up. After waiting for a while, Melina’s mother left to pick up her son, only to return and be told by a server that Melina may have been in the restaurant—but it was unclear if it was that same day or another.

Despite initial assumptions by police that Melina might have run away, her family insisted she wouldn’t have done so, as she was a happy, well-adjusted child. It wasn’t until later that the family learned Melina had visited a boyfriend that afternoon to break up with him. The breakup appeared to go smoothly, and neither party was upset. However, after that, no one heard from her again.

    Ongoing Search

It has been over 20 years since Melina’s disappearance, but no trace of her has been found. Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement and the community, Melina’s whereabouts remain unknown. Her family continues to hold out hope for answers and to find out what happened to their beloved daughter.

Melina was 5’4″ with a slim build and green-blue eyes. Her disappearance has left an unfillable void in the lives of her family and friends.
