Pitcher, a Calvert County man, was one of the victims killed when an American Airlines plane and Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Reagan National Airport, killing friends returning home from a hunting trip.
Pitcher’s wife, Kylie, told me over the phone on Thursday that Pitcher was on the plane and on the hunting trip in Kansas, and that Jameson Pitcher, the man mentioned in the New York Times story about the friends’ trip, is her father-in-law.

The New York Times said that the older Mr. Pitcher stated that his 30-year-old son owned his plumbing company and had been married for just over a year. He was working on building a new home with his wife, Kylie.
“He was just getting started with life,” remarked the man
