A teenager has been arrested and charged with murder after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed at a house party in Long Island.
The incident happened at a party in West Babylon, New York, where police say around 90 to 100 teenagers were present. Liam Delemo, the 15-year-old victim, was stabbed during a fight. He was quickly taken to a hospital but sadly passed away.
On Monday, police announced they had arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the stabbing. Because of his age, the suspect’s name has not been released. He is now facing a charge of second-degree murder, which could mean a prison sentence of 25 years to life if he is found guilty.
Liam’s parents shared their heartbreak with a local news station, saying that their son was still awake when they arrived at the scene after hearing about the stabbing. They described his injuries and the devastating scene they encountered.
Liam was a junior at West Babylon High School and was known as a good student.
A fundraising page has been set up to help Liam’s family with funeral costs. The page describes Liam as a kind and loving person who brought joy to those around him.
Also, the owner of the home where the party took place, Bonnie Miranda, has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child and violating the county’s social host law for allegedly allowing her grandchild to host the party.
