A young boy in Nevada, just 11 years old, has died following a road rage incident. The sad event happened on November 14th while the boy’s stepfather was driving him to school.
Police say the trouble began around 7:30 in the morning. The drivers of two cars got into an argument after one tried to pass the other on the side of the road.
During the argument, a 22-year-old man, identified by police as Tyler Matthew John, shot a gun into the car. The bullet hit the boy, who was sitting in the back seat.
After the shooting, the stepfather is said to have crashed his car into the suspect’s car. Both drivers got out and continued arguing.
Someone flagged down a police officer, who then arrested the suspect. Emergency workers tried to help the boy at a nearby hospital, but sadly, he died from his injuries.
Detectives arrived and arrested the suspect on charges of murder and shooting into a car.
Police are holding Tyler Matthew Johns in jail on a $20,000 bond.
The Henderson Police Department called the incident a “senseless act.” They are asking people to be patient and careful while driving. They noted that accidents and dangerous driving often increase during the holiday season, and that tragedies like this can be avoided if everyone does their part.
Police are still looking into the incident and ask anyone with information to contact them.
