In the quiet neighborhood along Dandy Road in Signal Mountain, Tennessee, a tragic sequence of events unfolded on the evening of Monday, November 17, 2025 that left two men dead and a community reeling. According to the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office, the victim, 47‑year‑old Michael Huckabee, died from a gunshot wound during an altercation at his home with 41‑year‑old Johnny Michael Queen — someone he reportedly knew.

According to the sheriff’s office statement, witnesses at the 37 Dandy Road residence indicated that Huckabee and Queen engaged in some form of dispute which escalated into gunfire. Queen fled the scene after the shooting, leaving authorities to secure the immediate area and treat the event as a homicide.

What followed was a two‑hour pursuit through woods and remote terrain. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), with assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and the 12th Judicial District Drug Task Force, tracked Queen to a location off Big Fork Road in nearby Marion County, Tennessee.

Once located, investigators attempted negotiations, but according to the TBI, Queen refused to surrender. At some point during the standoff, he allegedly aimed a firearm at deputies, prompting law‑enforcement to fire. Queen was killed on the scene. No additional deputies or bystanders were reported injured.

Sheriff Bill Phillips confirmed that the two deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave, a standard step during officer‑involved fatal incidents. An internal affairs probe is ongoing within the sheriff’s office, even as the TBI continues its criminal investigation and evidence collection, with findings to be forwarded to the district attorney.

At the core of this tragedy is the death of Michael Huckabee — someone whose life was abruptly cut short and whose relationship with Queen is still being clarified. Investigators have not publicly detailed the nature of their connection beyond describing Queen as “known to” the victim. The community has been left asking how a friendship or acquaintance turned so deadly so quickly.

Local authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident at Dandy Road or has information about the flight path of Queen during the manhunt to come forward. With both a homicide and officer‑involved shooting under investigation, the case will likely draw deeper scrutiny and lasting questions about what led to that late‑night confrontation.
