In July 2024, during a campaign event, President Donald Trump was shot and injured. Now, the FBI says the person who did it, Thomas Matthew Crooks, acted alone.

Crooks, who was 20 years old, shot President Trump, hitting him in the upper right ear.

The FBI looked into Crooks’ background, checking 35 different accounts linked to him. This included his bank records and social media pages. They wanted to see if he had any help from others, either in the United States or in other countries.

According to Fox News, the FBI didn’t find any connections between Crooks and anyone else who might have been involved in the shooting attempt.

The FBI also looked at Crooks’ email accounts from other countries, like Germany and Belgium, to see if he was talking to anyone else about his plans.

One official told Fox News that when they found these foreign accounts, they quickly contacted the governments of those countries. They were able to get the information from the accounts to check for any links.

The official said that there was no evidence that anyone outside of the U.S. or inside the U.S. helped Crooks or told him to do it. This includes foreign governments.

The FBI said they did over 1,000 interviews and looked at over 2,000 tips from the public. They also got search warrants and subpoenas, and they looked at electronic devices from Crooks and his family. About 485 FBI employees worked on the case.

The FBI stated that there was no sign that any foreign person, government, or group was connected to Thomas Crooks.

Another official told Fox News that Crooks had shared some anti-government things online a few years before the shooting.

The FBI said that Crooks shot at Trump during a rally. Crooks died after being shot by a Secret Service sniper. Others were also hurt in the incident. President Trump was shot in the ear.

The FBI said that Crooks used a .223 rifle, which his father had.

Crooks fired eight shots, and he had more bullets and magazines in his car, along with a vest. The FBI also found a bomb in his car.

The official said that Crooks didn’t leave a message explaining why he did it.
