A man from Florida has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in 1997.
Andrew Dykes, who lives in Tampa, Florida, was arrested on Wednesday, Dec. 3, based on a warrant from Nassau County, New York. The 66-year-old is accused of killing Tanya Denise Jackson in 1997.
Dykes appeared in court in Florida on Thursday, Dec. 4, to face the murder charge.
Tanya Jackson’s two-year-old daughter, Tatiana Marie Dykes, was also killed. Her remains were found 14 years later. For many years, Tanya was known as “Peaches” because of a peach tattoo on her body, and her daughter was called Baby Doe. They were finally identified in April 2025 using genetic testing.
Tanya Jackson was a 26-year-old U.S. Army veteran when she was killed.
The Nassau County Police had offered a $25,000 reward for information about the case.
When Tatiana’s remains were found in 2011 on Long Island, the murders were linked to the Gilgo Beach murders. In 2023, Rex Heuermann was arrested for some of those deaths but Heuermann was never charged in connection with Jackson and her daughter’s deaths.
