Following a recent game, Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer plans to speak with wide receiver George Pickens about comments Pickens made on social media. The exchange followed the Cowboys’ loss to the Detroit Lions.

During the game broadcast, former NFL player and current analyst Richard Sherman commented that Pickens appeared “uninterested” during the game. Pickens responded on social media, directing insults at Sherman. The social media post was later deleted, but Schottenheimer has said he will address the situation with Pickens.

“I’m aware of what was supposedly put out there,” Schottenheimer told reporters. “I’ve not talked to him yet…I will be talking to him, just checking on him. Again, this is unfortunately things that we deal with in this profession.”

In the game against the Lions, Pickens caught passes for 37 yards. After the game, Pickens seemed to suggest that Sherman should have considered the Lions’ defensive plans when making his comments.

Pickens also said that he could have played better during the game. He mentioned that with another wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, leaving the game due to an injury, he was getting more attention from the Lions’ defense.

Schottenheimer reviewed the game and disagreed with the idea that Pickens didn’t give his best effort. He said that everyone on the Cowboys team, including the coaches, could have done better in the game.

“I don’t think any of us coached or played well enough,” Schottenheimer said. “All in all, I’m going to judge George on his body of work, man…He’s shown what an elite player he is and what a game changer that he is. I have no question.”

Pickens is in his first season with the Cowboys after being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers. So far this season, he has achieved career highs in receiving yards and touchdowns.
