Late Thursday night, a car slammed into a stream at 91st Street and Riverside Drive, killing two adolescents and critically injuring another, according to Tulsa police.
Around 9:45 p.m., officers arrived at the scene of the collision to discover the car submerged in the stream. Police stated they were unable to reclaim the automobile overnight due to the darkness and will try to do so following daylight.
The car carrying three adolescents was heading north on Riverside when it veered off the road near 91st Street, overturned, and fell into the stream, according to investigators. The driver was transported to the hospital in severe condition, and two of the teenagers passed away at the site.
“We had a witness driving behind these folks, and although they didn’t actually see the whole crash, the vehicle passed them at a high rate of speed,” Will Dalsing, a Sergeant with the Tulsa “They contacted us after noticing that the vehicle had off the road. They phoned us assuming it was a major accident, but they couldn’t see where the car had landed because it was down in the creek, which is rather deep.
After the car is found, police will continue their investigation, confirming that no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Although the victims’ names have not been made public, police stated that the teenagers were approximately 17 years old.
