Phoenix police reported a tragic incident on Sunday evening that appeared to be a murder-suicide, leaving a man and woman dead and a toddler hospitalized in critical condition.
According to Sgt. Phil Krynsky, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road at approximately 8:30 p.m. after receiving calls from concerned residents. Callers reported hearing an argument inside one of the apartments, followed by gunshots.
When officers arrived and entered the apartment, they discovered the bodies of 38-year-old Andrew Corona and his wife, 35-year-old Ashlee Corona. The couple’s young child, identified as Mav, had also been shot but was still alive. The toddler was rushed to a hospital and is currently in stable but critical condition, receiving medical care.
Sgt. Krynsky stated that initial investigations suggest Andrew Corona fatally shot his wife and their child before turning the gun on himself. Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the tragic event, trying to piece together the sequence of events and any potential motives behind the shooting.
