It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of Brandon D. Wren, a beloved son, brother, fiancé, and friend. Brandon, 35, of Argyle, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 28, 2024. His untimely death has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him, and the community of Salem and beyond is mourning the loss of a man whose kindness, generosity, and strong character touched so many.
Brandon was born on April 18, 1989, in Cambridge, New York, to Lee Kirchner Wren and David Wren. From a young age, he exhibited the qualities that would define him throughout his life—hardworking, loyal, and caring. Raised in Salem, Brandon developed a deep connection to his hometown and the community that shaped him. He was a proud graduate of Salem Central School, where he formed lifelong friendships and was known for his infectious smile and laid-back demeanor. Brandon went on to further his education at Adirondack Community College and Hudson Valley Community College, always striving to improve himself and those around him.
Brandon’s dedication to his work was evident throughout his career. After his studies, he entered the waste management industry, where he became a respected and reliable member of the workforce. Brandon worked for 12 years at Ace Carting and then spent the last three years with Casella Waste. His colleagues and supervisors often spoke of his unwavering commitment to his job, his meticulous work ethic, and his always-positive attitude, which made him a pleasure to work with. Brandon was the kind of employee who went above and beyond, always looking out for others and ensuring the job was done right. Before joining the waste management industry, Brandon worked alongside his Uncle Ryan Kirchner, who mentored him in the field of construction and ignited a lifelong passion for building. Brandon’s time with his uncle instilled in him a strong sense of pride in his work and a love for learning.
Outside of his professional life, Brandon found immense joy in the simpler things—especially those that connected him to nature. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, spending countless hours outdoors. Brandon appreciated the peace and beauty of the natural world, and these moments brought him great contentment. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family. Brandon cherished every moment spent with those closest to him, especially his fiancée, Caitlyn Bearor, and their two beloved dogs. He and Caitlyn shared a bond that many only dream of—a partnership filled with mutual respect, love, and unwavering support. Together, they built a home in Argyle that was a reflection of their love and shared dreams.
Brandon’s loyalty to his family and friends was unmatched. He was a loving son to Lee and David, and a devoted brother to his siblings: Caroly (Andres) Wetzel of Jacksonville, FL, Candice (Karl) Sobylak of Latham, NY, Kalynn (Edwin) Droz of Glenville, NY, Cody Wren of Greenwich, NY, and Clayton Wren of Greenwich, NY. Brandon’s bond with his siblings was one of love and support, and he was always there when they needed him. Whether it was offering guidance, lending a hand with a project, or simply sharing a laugh, Brandon’s family knew they could count on him.
In addition to his parents and siblings, Brandon is survived by his cherished nieces and nephews: Natasha, Isabelle, Jake, Valentina, Reese, Mateo, and Marco, who brought him immeasurable joy. He took great pride in being an uncle and loved spending time with his young relatives, watching them grow and learn. Brandon’s playful spirit and big heart made him an incredible role model for the younger generation.
Brandon was predeceased by two aunts, Sue Kirchner and Ruth Kirchner, who he held dear in his heart. Their loss left a hole in his life, but Brandon always carried their memories with him.
Brandon’s passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of all who knew him. His family, friends, and coworkers are left to grapple with the heartbreak of losing someone so vital, so full of life, and so deeply loved. Brandon’s presence was a gift to those around him, and his absence will be felt for years to come. Yet, even in the midst of this sorrow, his loved ones take solace in knowing that Brandon’s legacy of kindness, loyalty, and hard work will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Brandon’s love for his family and friends, his infectious laughter, and his genuine care for others were just a few of the many qualities that made him a remarkable person. He was the type of individual who would drop everything to help someone in need, who would offer a listening ear, or lend a hand without hesitation. His capacity for love and generosity knew no bounds, and those who knew him well were often in awe of his ability to brighten a room with his presence. Brandon’s legacy will live on in the countless memories he created with those who loved him, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those left behind.
As we mourn the loss of Brandon D. Wren, we also celebrate the remarkable person he was. His life, though cut short, was filled with love, laughter, and joy.
