Investigation into Missing Man Linked to Religious Group
Authorities in California are investigating the disappearance of Ruben Moreno, a man last seen in December 2017. He was 41 years old when he was reported missing from a residence in Claremont, where members of a religious group known as His Way Spirit Led Assemblies were living.
Moreno had been residing with other group members at the time of his vanishing. Police reports indicate that the group has since left the property. It wasn’t until August 2019 that Moreno’s family officially reported him missing.
The Claremont Police Department stated that the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Moreno’s disappearance is ongoing. They have not disclosed whether foul play is suspected at this time.
Moreno is not the only individual connected to this religious group to go missing. Emilio Ghanem, a former member, disappeared in May 2023 while on a business trip in Southern California. Ghanem, who had moved to Nashville after leaving the group, was supposed to meet a potential client at a Starbucks on the day he went missing.
Shortly after Ghanem’s disappearance, police obtained video footage showing a rental truck he was using in Grand Terrace. However, that truck also disappeared, complicating the investigation.
On August 6, Claremont Police addressed public interest in possible links between Moreno’s case and Ghanem’s case. They clarified that the only known connection is their ties to His Way Spirit Led Assemblies, and each investigation is being handled separately.
Attempts to reach His Way Spirit Led Assemblies for comments have been unsuccessful.
