Captain Rebecca Marodi Obituary, Death;- A Cal Fire captain was tragically fatally stabbed at her residence in Ramona on Monday, an incident that the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department is treating as a suspected homicide. Deputies were dispatched to the home located in the 20200 block of Rancho Villa Road at approximately 8:58 p.m. following a radio report of an assault involving a deadly weapon in the vicinity.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim, identified as Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi by the city of Menifee Fire Station 68 in a Facebook post on Tuesday, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite the life-saving efforts provided by Cal Fire paramedics, she ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following Marodi’s death, the sheriff’s Homicide Unit took over the investigation. Currently, there is no information available regarding potential suspects, nor are there any details concerning the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
Marodi had been promoted to fire captain at Cal Fire Riverside’s Temecula station in 2022, as noted in a post from her previous role with the county’s Hazmat Team. The timeline of her transfer from the Temecula station to Menifee remains unclear.
