Cesar Ramirez Castro,Daniel Castro Zammarron Arrested; – A 22-year-old man lost his life in a tragic accident on Saturday when his vehicle was hit by a suspected drunk driver, according to police reports.
The Arlington Police responded to the incident at approximately 7:39 p.m. on Saturday, occurring in the eastbound lanes of I-20 near Bowen Drive, as detailed in a press release. Upon arrival, officers discovered a car completely engulfed in flames.
Firefighters from Arlington extinguished the fire and subsequently found the deceased 22-year-old man inside the vehicle. Investigators established that the victim’s car had been stationary on the highway’s shoulder when it was struck from behind by a Ford F-150 truck. This collision caused the car to crash into a concrete wall, resulting in the fire.
Witnesses reported seeing three men exit the pickup truck and flee the scene. Police later apprehended all three individuals, identifying the driver as 25-year-old Cesar Ramirez Castro. Authorities suspect that Ramirez Castro was under the influence of alcohol and conducted a series of field sobriety tests on him.
He was arrested and charged with one count of intoxication manslaughter and one count of causing a collision resulting in death. Additionally, two passengers in the pickup, 30-year-old Marcelino Ramirez-Ramirez and 24-year-old Daniel Castro Zammarron, were also arrested and charged with public intoxication.
The identity of the victim has not yet been disclosed.
