It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Chi Truong on October 18, 2025. Chi, a beloved father, grandfather, and revered community leader, leaves behind a profound legacy in Calgary’s Buddhist community.

    What Happened

Chi Truong passed away, leaving a lasting impact as a pioneering figure in Calgary’s Buddhist community. Throughout his life, Chi was dedicated to creating sacred spaces for spiritual growth and meditation, most notably through the establishment of the Avatamsaka Monastery and the Middle Path Buddhist Temple. These spaces have provided countless individuals with opportunities for reflection, peace, and connection to their spiritual practices.

Chi’s contributions to the community and his tireless efforts to foster a more compassionate, reflective society will be remembered for years to come. He is deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

    Honoring Chi’s Memory

In honor of Chi’s life and legacy, his family encourages donations to support the Lianyin Temple’s expansion project, a cause that was close to Chi’s heart. The expansion project aims to further Chi’s vision of strengthening and enriching Calgary’s Buddhist community.

This initiative is a meaningful way to celebrate Chi Truong’s life, as it continues his commitment to providing spiritual spaces for generations to come.

    Closing Line

Chi’s legacy will continue to live on through his work, his family, and the community he built. May his soul rest in peace, and may those who knew him find comfort in the spaces he nurtured and the lessons he imparted.
