Daniel J Gordon Obituary, Death; – A 27-year-old man was fatally stabbed at a residence early on Friday morning. He succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
The victim has been identified as Daniel J. Gordon, 27, from Rock Falls, as per a statement released by the Rock Falls Police Department. Gordon was transported by ambulance to CGH Medical Center, where he later passed away.
Kyle M. Cooper, 36, also from Rock Falls, has been charged with aggravated battery, according to the same media release. He is currently being held at the Whiteside County Jail, facing additional charges that are pending. The charges against Cooper are related to the following events.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. on Friday, police were dispatched to a location in the 600 block of West 20th Street following reports of a stabbing incident. Upon arrival, officers discovered Gordon suffering from “severe injuries.” The Rock Falls Police Department has initiated an investigation into the matter, and Cooper was identified as a suspect shortly thereafter.
Cooper subsequently presented himself at the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office in Morrison, Illinois, where he was detained. The Rock Falls Police Department is receiving assistance from the Sterling Police Department, the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office, Troopers from the Illinois State Police, ISP Crime Scene Services, and the Illinois State Police Department of Criminal Investigation.
