Derrick Davis Obituary, Death; – A 54-year-old man from Naperville passed away on Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Route 59 near the entrance of Fox Valley Mall, as reported by the Aurora police.
The deceased has been identified as Derrick Davis, residing on the 2500 block of Arcadia Circle in Naperville.
Emergency responders from Aurora, including police and firefighters, arrived at the scene at 8:46 a.m. to address the incident involving Davis and a black 2018 Infiniti Q50. Upon arrival, officers discovered Davis in the middle of the Route 59 through-lane, suffering from severe injuries. The vehicle involved had also come to a stop at the location.
Initial investigations suggest that the Infiniti was traveling northbound in the middle lane when the pedestrian attempted to cross eastbound, entering the vehicle’s path. The driver made an effort to stop but was unable to prevent the collision, according to police reports. The Kane County Coroner’s Office is set to perform an autopsy to ascertain the precise cause and manner of death.
