Known for her lifelong dedication to service, hospitality, and community involvement, Donna Mae’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life.

    Early Life and Career

    Donna Mae Best was born on April 8, 1930, in Salem Township, Clarion County. She graduated from Salem High School in 1948 and went on to study at Oil City Business School. Her career began at Beels Insurance Agency before she co-managed The Red Brick Inn Bed and Breakfast, a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to hospitality.

    Commitment to Faith and Community

    A dedicated member of the Nickleville Presbyterian Church, Donna Mae served as a deacon, embodying her strong faith and desire to give back to her community. Her service extended beyond the church, as she was deeply involved in numerous local organizations. She was a member of the Dehart Rossman Wenner American Legion Auxiliary, the Eastern Star, the Venango County Historical Society, and Richland Grange.

    As a Penn State Master Gardener, Donna Mae’s passion for gardening flourished. She also spent many years as a 4-H leader, where she guided and mentored young people, leaving an indelible mark on many lives.

    Donna Mae’s legacy is one of selflessness, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Her love of gardening, sewing, and community service defined her life. She was a mother to five children, a grandmother to many, and a great-grandmother, touching the lives of multiple generations.

    Donna Mae passed away peacefully at The Caring Place in Franklin, where she had received compassionate care in her final days. Her passing was due to natural causes. As her family and community mourn her loss, they will forever remember her as a pillar of strength, kindness, and service in Venango County.
