The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Section has confirmed that the disappearance of 14-year-old Samuel Bird is now being treated as a homicide. Investigators have shifted their focus to Samuel’s death, which they believe was criminal in nature. Efforts to locate his remains continue, with police urging the public to remain vigilant.

    What Happened

Samuel Bird, 14, was last seen on June 1, 2025, around 8:30 p.m. walking near Holy Cross School in Edmonton. Surveillance footage showed Samuel walking towards a nearby residence on 150 Street and 106 Avenue, but he was never seen again. Despite extensive searches and investigations, Samuel’s whereabouts remained unknown until recently.

In September, police executed a search warrant at the residence Samuel was last seen near, and it is now being treated as a focal point in the case. Edmonton police believe Samuel’s body was disposed of within 150 kilometers of Edmonton shortly after June 1, and that steps were taken to conceal his remains.

    Ongoing Search Efforts

Searches involving specialized personnel and canine teams have already been conducted in efforts to locate Samuel’s remains, and further searches are expected to continue. Authorities are focusing their efforts on rural areas surrounding Edmonton and are asking landowners, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts to be alert for any potential clues that may lead to Samuel’s remains.

Official Statements and What Happens Next

The Edmonton Police Service has asked anyone with information about Samuel’s disappearance or any potential sightings to come forward. The investigation is still ongoing, and police are urging the public to remain alert and share any details that might assist in solving the case.

“If you have any information, no matter how small, please contact the Edmonton Police immediately,” said a police spokesperson.

    How You Can Help

    Closing

This story may be updated as more information becomes available. The Edmonton Police Service continues to work diligently to uncover the truth behind Samuel Bird’s disappearance and bring justice to his family.
