SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Downtown Scranton bar, restaurant, and arcade Bartari teamed up on Saturday with The Scoville Unit for their Third Annual Wing-Off.
Competitors faced the challenge of eating ten hot wings, 10 shot glasses of hot sauce, and also took the One Chip Challenge by eating eight spicy chips.
A former professional competitive eater was the only one to down all of that fiery food.
28/22 News asked Wing-Off Champion Russell Keeler how it feels to be champ.
“Warm, hot, exciting. Tomorrow might be a different story but right now it feels good,” Keeler explained.
Proceeds from Saturday’s Wing-Off benefit a pair of non-profits, the Luzerne County SPCA and CDE Exotics, an exotic animal rescue in Wilkes-Barre.
