A Texas woman is recovering after a scary encounter with some geese at a local park.
Lydia West, 72, was at City Lake Park in Royse City on December 1st when the incident happened. She was doing what she often does: feeding the ducks. But this time, some geese got aggressive and attacked her.
According to reports, the geese were after the food and knocked Ms. West to the ground. Her son, David West, said she couldn’t move.
Thankfully, a couple who were also at the park saw what was happening. They stepped in to help, chasing the geese away and calling for medical assistance.
Ms. West was taken to the hospital with some serious injuries, including fractures in her pelvis and internal bleeding. Her son mentioned that she’s a small woman with other health problems, and she now faces a tough recovery with physical therapy to help her walk again.
Park officials are thinking about putting up signs to advise people on how to interact safely with the animals that live in the park. David West hopes this incident will make people, especially older adults, be more careful around wildlife in public areas. He was surprised that geese could be so aggressive and cause harm.
