Graeme Turner, a contestant on the show in 2010, was found dead on October 1, according to an inquest.
During his appearance, he sought £50,000 in exchange for a 5% stake in his company, which offered customizable wallpaper kits designed to transform children’s bedrooms into football stadiums.
Despite not securing investment, the 53-year-old continued running his business.
Following his death in Pwllheli, North Wales, coroner Kate Robertson ruled the case as suicide.
Paying tribute to the Dragons’ Den star and businessman, his son shared an emotional message online.
As reported by The Mirror, he wrote: “I have just lost the best, strongest, kindest, most loyal, and courageous dad I have ever had and known. He was the godfather, the inspiration in my life. I am devastated, and that is an understatement.”
Friends and family of the former BBC contestant expressed their condolences in the comments, with one Facebook user saying: “A great man. I had the privilege of being in his company on many occasions during my time.”
Another added: “Very sad news. Graeme was a true gentleman and will be sadly missed by all. Condolences to Graeme’s family and friends.
A third friend added: “An absolute gentleman who will be sadly missed by all who knew him, my thoughts are with his family at this sad time, safe now in the arms of Jesus.
