    Halligan Picked for VA Attorney

President Trump has put forward Lindsey Halligan, a trusted advisor, to be the next top lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia. This follows the departure of the previous U.S. attorney on Friday.

In a message online, President Trump praised Halligan as a “tough, smart, and loyal attorney” who has been working with him for a long time. He believes Halligan, along with Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, has what it takes to excel in this important position.

Halligan has been a part of Trump’s legal team, including after the FBI searched Mar-a-Lago. She has also been involved in efforts to ensure that American values are upheld in Smithsonian museums.

This nomination comes at a time when the office is facing pressure to look into New York Attorney General Letitia James, a known critic of Trump, for possible mortgage fraud.

The previous top prosecutor, Erik Siebert, left his position on Friday. This happened as officials in the Trump administration were pushing for charges in the investigation into James. The investigation involves questions about paperwork related to James’ properties.

James’ legal team has strongly denied any wrongdoing, calling the investigation politically motivated.

While Siebert said he resigned, President Trump stated online that he was “fired.” Trump also pointed out that the state’s Democratic senators supported Siebert, suggesting that Siebert should have presented himself as a Democrat instead of a Republican.
