Hollywood actress Cheryl Hines, known for her role in “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” is speaking out about what she sees as a clear bias in the entertainment industry. Hines is married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is currently serving as Health and Human Services (HHS) secretary in President Donald Trump’s second term.
Hines says some of her Hollywood colleagues have treated her differently because of her marriage. She told the Times of London that she finds it interesting how some in Hollywood are quick to share their political views, especially when they don’t align with conservative values.
“I have compassion for those actors and entertainers who really want people to know where they stand morally,” Hines said. “[But] I’ve never been one of them… But it is eye-opening to see people really wanting to tell you how much their morals do not line up with, say, the present administration, because they don’t like hate or judgment.”
She points out the apparent contradiction of those who preach inclusivity but then exclude her because of her husband’s political ties. Kennedy has faced criticism for his views on vaccines and for aligning himself with President Trump, a move that some see as a departure from the Democratic party.
Hines has been married to Kennedy since 2014. Before that, she was married to Paul Young, and they have a daughter together.
Hines also mentioned that some of her friends, including “Curb Your Enthusiasm” co-star Larry David, no longer speak to her. David was the one who introduced her to Kennedy.
When asked about it, Hines said, “No, but in all fairness, I haven’t reached out to them… It’s a moment in time. If I saw Larry I would be happy to see him.”
Hines also voiced her support for actress Sydney Sweeney’s decision to stay quiet about any political controversy, saying, “It’s nobody’s business. She’s there to entertain people.”
Hines has said that, “There are people that feel like they can’t separate the fact that I’m married to Bobby. And there are also people in the entertainment industry coming up to me saying, ‘I really want to work with you.’ It’s a double-edged sword.”
