Honda has announced a significant recall affecting over 400,000 Honda Civics due to a potential safety issue. This recall includes vehicles sold in the U.S. from 2016 to 2021. The company reported that a manufacturing error may result in the wheels detaching while the car is in motion.

The issue originates from a supplier’s mistake where the steel lug seat inserts were not properly installed in the aluminum wheels. Honda has stated that this defect could cause the lug nuts to loosen, which might lead to the wheels separating from the vehicle. This presents a serious risk for accidents or injuries.

The automaker encourages all owners of affected models to visit an authorized dealer for a complimentary inspection. Should any issues be found, the dealership will replace the wheels at no cost to the owner.

Fortunately, Honda clarified that so far, there have been no known reports of crashes or injuries linked to this specific problem. The company is taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of its customers and restore confidence in their vehicles.

This recall underscores the importance of vigilance in manufacturing processes and the automaker’s commitment to addressing issues promptly to protect its customers.
