A truck carrying hot dogs was involved in an accident on an interstate in Pennsylvania on Friday, causing a significant disruption. The incident happened on Interstate 83, close to the Maryland border, as the morning rush hour was coming to an end.
According to state police, the tractor-trailer experienced a mechanical failure, which led to a collision with a passenger vehicle. The impact damaged the trailer, causing it to open and spill hot dogs all over the road. Emergency crews had to work hard to clean up the mess, rolling up the discarded food for disposal.
Fortunately, four individuals sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and required medical attention. To aid in the cleanup, a front-end loader was brought in to scoop up the hot dogs and transport them away.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Shrewsbury Fire Chief Brad Dauberman noted that his team found some humor in the circumstances. He even received a text from his daughter featuring a hot dog-themed T-shirt. Dauberman remarked, “I can tell you personally, hot dogs are very slippery,” showing a light-hearted side to an unfortunate event.
