Cam Little’s Impressive 70-Yard Field Goal Stuns Jaguars Fans

In a remarkable moment during the Jacksonville Jaguars’ preseason opener, kicker Cam Little showcased his extraordinary talent with a stunning 70-yard field goal. This impressive kick came just before halftime, cutting the Pittsburgh Steelers’ lead to 14-9. The moment generated excitement, with teammates rushing to congratulate Little as he headed to the locker room.

As the ball soared through the air, broadcaster Bucky Brooks exclaimed, “Holy smokes, they got a shot!” Fans in the stands shared in the exhilaration, witnessing a kick that, while unofficial, stands out in football history.

While the NFL officially recognizes the longest field goal as a 66-yarder hit by former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker in 2021, Little’s kick surpassed that distance by four yards. However, because it occurred during a preseason game, it won’t be counted as an official record.

Despite this setback, Little’s performance has set him apart as a kicker to watch this upcoming season. Given his remarkable display of skill, the Jaguars may consider him a key player moving forward. This season could bring competition for the record, particularly from Dallas Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey, who holds the record for the second-longest field goal at 65 yards and had a notable 66-yarder in last year’s preseason.

Even though Little’s kick won’t go down in the record books, it is believed to be the longest in any known football competition. In comparison, the previous record at the collegiate level was a 69-yard field goal made by Abilene Christian’s Ove Johansson in 1976. Little’s amazing ability to connect from such a distance certainly raises his profile within the NFL.

Drafted in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Jaguars, Little made a splash in his rookie season. He successfully converted 27 out of 29 field goal attempts, with an impressive long of 59 yards. Additionally, he was perfect on 27 extra point tries and achieved a touchback rate of 85.5% on kickoffs, highlighting his skills as an essential asset to the team.

Before entering the NFL, Little was recognized as one of the top kickers in his class. His consistent performance earned him first-team All-SEC honors while playing at the University of Arkansas. Being the third kicker selected in the draft, coming in at 212th overall, reflects the high expectations his team has for him.

Little’s journey is just beginning, and his remarkable potential is exciting for Jaguars fans and football enthusiasts alike. As anticipation builds for the regular season, it will be interesting to see how he builds on this impressive start.

The Jaguars now have a promising kicker who showcases not just talent, but also the mental strength and determination needed to perform at such a high level. With his strong performances, fans are eager to see how he can continue impressing both at home games and on the road.

The future looks bright for Cam Little, and his journey in the NFL could inspire others and mark the start of a remarkable career. As he prepares for the regular season, many will be watching closely, hoping for more extraordinary performances that could lead him to break even more records in the future. Whether or not he becomes a record-holder, his contribution to the Jaguars will undoubtedly play a significant role in the team’s success this season.
