Jakaira Ortiz Obituary, Death; – The friends and family of a woman who was reported missing and later found deceased in Fayetteville are seeking answers following the discovery of her body in an apartment on Tamarack Drive on Saturday.
A friend expressed to ABC11 their concern that her body may have gone undiscovered for several days. Paris Austin conveyed a deep sense of foreboding as he traveled from Virginia to Fayetteville on Saturday morning to search for his sister, Jakaira Ortiz. “In such circumstances, one inevitably contemplates all possible outcomes, whether one wishes to or not,” he remarked.
Austin, along with several family members, including his mother, made the journey to Fayetteville to assist the police in locating his sister. They were present at the Lake in the Pines Apartments on Tamarack Drive when authorities discovered her beaten body in one of the units. “And then you just hear my mother screaming,” Austin recounted.
According to Fayetteville police, Jakaira, who was also known by her birth name, Jakaira Triplett, was last seen with her fiancé. The fiancé did not respond to a call from Eyewitness News on Monday. Family members indicated they had not heard from her since they celebrated New Year’s Eve together. However, police have yet to identify a suspect in Jakaira’s death.
The victim’s brother expressed that she will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, addressing the individual responsible with a message: “Go talk to someone, you know. Go speak to the police, go turn yourself in. That way you can try to get yourself some help. There’s still an opportunity for you, and personally, I forgive you.”
