The Maryland State Police Crash Team is overseeing the investigation. Once their inquiry is concluded, the case will be forwarded to the St. Mary’s County State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be pursued.
As a result of the incident, Route 5 was closed for over two hours while authorities carried out their investigation and cleared the area. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as new information emerges.
