    Endicott, NY — It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James R. Ferrell, a beloved father, husband, and grandfather, who peacefully went to be with his heavenly father at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, NY on Sunday, September 14, 2025. He was 73 years old.

    James, or “Jim,” as he was affectionately known, passed away surrounded by his loving family. His departure leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of all who knew him. A man of strong faith and incredible warmth, Jim was known for his kind heart and exuberant personality that made everyone feel welcome. He will be forever missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

    Jim was born in the small town of Hickory, Southwestern Pennsylvania, where he grew up in a time when family and community meant everything.     Jim had a successful career as a locomotive engineer with the NYS&W railroad, retiring in 2011 after years of dedicated service.     Funeral services to celebrate Jim’s life will be held on Friday, September 19th at 1:00 PM at New Life Ministries, located at 201 Hill Ave. in Endicott, NY. The family will receive friends at New Life Ministries from 11:30 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Colin J. Ferrell Memorial Scholarship Fund, honoring Jim’s love of watching his grandchildren play sports. Donations can be sent via checks made payable to Support Our Sports, PO Box 5614 Endicott, NY 13763.
