Jason Behenna Death, Obituary Weston, Massachusetts – The Regis College community is in mourning following the tragic death of Jason Behenna, the Director of Sports Information, who passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, after a devastating accident. Jason’s untimely death has left a profound void, as colleagues, students, and friends remember a man deeply dedicated to collegiate sports and the athletes he served. Behenna, a seasoned professional in sports communications, was well-respected for his tireless work ethic, warm personality, and passion for promoting student-athletes and their achievements. Since joining Regis College, he had become a central figure in the athletic department, earning admiration for his ability to capture the essence of competition and teamwork through his storytelling.

Doug Greenwald, a longtime friend and former colleague, shared a heartfelt tribute to Jason. “Awful to learn about the sudden passing of Jason Behenna. We first met at Centenary College in Shreveport, where we worked together for three basketball seasons. His thick Boston accent, his humor, and his dedication to his work made him unforgettable.” Behenna’s career spanned several institutions, including Seattle University, where he further honed his skills in sports communication. Greenwald recalled fond memories of their time together, including Jason’s unmistakable accent and quick wit, which brought levity even in demanding moments.

At Regis College, Behenna was more than an administrator; he was a mentor and advocate for student-athletes. His colleagues praised his ability to connect with students, highlighting his role in creating a supportive environment where athletics thrived. The Regis College community has expressed its deep condolences to Behenna’s family, and plans for a memorial service are underway. The athletic department also announced the creation of the “Jason Behenna Memorial Fund” to honor his legacy, supporting initiatives that reflect his commitment to student-athlete success.
