It is with profound sadness that we remember and honor the life of Joe Bethea, a beloved alumnus of Claremore, who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday evening, August 27, in Rogers County. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred around 6:44 p.m. on County Road EW 450 near East Russell Drive. Joe, 18 years old, was riding his 2014 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he collided with the rear of a 2013 Nissan Quest driven by May Chang of Collinsville. Joe was pronounced deceased at the scene, and his family has been notified. The driver of the Nissan was injured but survived the accident. No passengers were involved in either vehicle.

    The Memorial: Honoring Joe’s Spirit

In the wake of this tragic loss, the sanctuary at Central Campus will be open throughout the day. Roscoe Crawford is playing music in Joe’s honor, creating a space for reflection and remembrance. Candles are available for lighting as a tribute to Joe’s bright spirit, and there is ample room at the prayer rails for anyone wishing to spend a quiet moment in prayer. We invite all who are able to stop by, especially during lunch breaks or any free time, to lift up Joe’s family and friends in prayer and support.

    Community Support: Prayers and Solidarity

Fasting and praying for Joe’s loved ones can be a powerful way to offer comfort and solidarity during this difficult time. Our church community’s strength lies in our collective prayers, encouragement, and love. We are grateful for the many friends and fellow believers who surround those in grief, providing a sense of hope and unity.
