Jonathan Emman Parra Gordillo Obituary, Death; – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man who lost his life in a head-on collision on Highway 43 near Delano. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Jonathan Emman Parra Gordillo, a resident of Shafter.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the scene of the two-vehicle crash on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at approximately 10:56 p.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Tesla Model 3 was traveling southbound on Highway 43, north of Cecil Way, at an undetermined speed, approaching a Nissan Sentra. Simultaneously, the Nissan Sentra was heading northbound on Highway 43, also at an undetermined speed, towards the Tesla Model 3. As the two vehicles neared each other, the Nissan Sentra swerved left out of its lane, directly into the path of the Tesla Model 3.
The driver of the Tesla was unable to avoid the collision, resulting in a head-on impact with the Nissan Sentra. Gordillo, the driver of the Nissan Sentra, succumbed to his injuries at the scene, where the vehicle subsequently caught fire, as reported by the coroner’s office. The California Highway Patrol has indicated that it remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in this incident.
The driver of the Tesla Model 3 sustained severe injuries and was taken to Kern Medical. That driver was identified in a GoFundMe as Correctional Officer A. Ortiz. His first name was not released.
