Jonathan Robins Obituary, Death; – Troopers from the Arkansas State Police (ASP) fatally shot a man following a nine-hour standoff in Mississippi County that concluded early Wednesday morning, according to officials. The individual has been identified as 55-year-old Jonathan Robins, a resident of Leachville.
The incident began when the Leachville Police Department and the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office (MSCO) received reports of gunfire emanating from a residence on Elm Street around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon their arrival, Robins allegedly opened fire on law enforcement personnel from a bedroom window.
In response, ASP deployed its SWAT and Bomb Squad units to the scene. At approximately 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Robins exited the residence through a side door, armed with a knife and a handgun, as reported by ASP.
He reportedly ran to an open carport and began discharging his weapon, prompting members of the ASP SWAT team to return fire. The exchange resulted in Robins being struck, leading to his death, as confirmed by state police.
His body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to ascertain the cause of death. The Mississippi County Prosecuting Attorney will conduct an investigation to determine whether the use of lethal force was in accordance with Arkansas state law.
