Jose Guadalupe Rojas Obituary, Death; – A man who tragically lost his life in a violent single-vehicle accident in Lucerne Valley last week has been identified as a 29-year-old devoted father from Apple Valley, as reported by authorities and family members.
Jose Guadalupe Rojas succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, which occurred around 3:35 p.m. on February 13 on Highway 18, southeast of Old Woman Springs Road, according to officials from the California Highway Patrol and the San Bernardino County coroner’s office.
At the time of the incident, he was driving a 2007 Honda Accord at an unspecified speed when he reportedly lost control, as stated by CHP officials. “For reasons that are still being investigated, the driver of the Honda executed an unsafe left turn across the southbound lanes of SR 18, ultimately colliding with natural vegetation,” the CHP noted in a written statement.
The vehicle subsequently struck a raised dirt mound, resulting in multiple rolls across the southbound lanes of Highway 18. Rojas, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle during the incident, according to officials.
The first CHP officer on the scene, along with several good Samaritans, including a paramedic and two nurses, rendered aid to the severely injured driver; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Rojas’ sister, Yahaira Vargas, shared that her brother was en route home from work at the time of the accident.
“He was a family man returning to his two boys,” she stated in a message accompanying an online fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses. “He was a dedicated and present father who worked tirelessly to support them, often putting in long hours.”
“Anyone who had the privilege of meeting him would attest to his constant happiness and sense of humor,” Vargas remarked. “This has been an immense loss for all who knew him. He will always be remembered by those who loved him as a diligent family man, a wonderful brother, son, and friend. He consistently prioritized the well-being of others and was always ready to lend a helping hand.”
Family and friends have organized a fundraiser featuring tacos, quesabirria, and shrimp empanadas to help cover funeral expenses, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. onward.
