LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky’s Attorney General Russell Coleman made a major announcement Thursday in the battle against opioid addiction and prevention.
Coleman announced nearly $20 million in grants from the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission. That commission determines where money from opioid settlements go.
The money will go to 75 Kentucky organizations for drug prevention, treatment and recovery efforts. In Jefferson County, that includes ChooseWell Communities and Community Advocates for Resources and Empowerment among others.
Goodwill Industries of Kentucky was awarded about $400,000.
“We’re honoring each one of those Kentuckians by our stewardship of these resources,” Coleman said.
Since its creation in 2021, the Opioid Abatement Commission has awarded more than $85 million to combat substance abuse in Kentucky.
